This MusicBox is where it all started! Notes for Notes got its start at the 1235 Teen Center back in 2007 when we opened with just a handful of gear (some of which I had my folks ship out from VT). Ah the memories, oh how we remember them and how we make them. We returned to the 1235 in the fall of last year to reopen the studio again (as the MusicBox-which had been on hiatus since we moved out to focus resources on the MusicBox East in 2008) When PAL took over, they asked us to come back and we were more than happy to oblige having had such a great experience working with them on some summer camps last year.
At the helm of the MusicBox Downtown is the first participant who ever came to the MusicBox back in 2007, Caesar Valenzuela aka C-wreck. Caesar became staff with Notes for Notes back in 2008 and has grown as a producer and leader and now runs the studio where his music career all started. It is also appropriate to give a “congrats” to Luis Hernandez aka Basik who just graduated High School ON TIME after an uphill battle with his grades, but he did it and I was there to see him walk, SO PROUD! Luis was one of the first guys in the studio as well!
Caesar returned to the MusicBox in February of this year to helm operations and work with the next generation of musicians. Caesar recently produced (and performed on along with Rico) a theme song for the MusicBox and 1235 Teen Center which a group of participants performed at the PAL fundraiser in late April. Take a listen to the track:
More to come from the studio. Stay tuned to updates, photos, videos and tracks from Caesar and the next generation of musicians at the MusicBox Downtown. Also, some great summer camps (run by Caesar and Dakota at all studios this summer through PAL) Check out PAL for info.
