Kris EhrmanRegional Director | CA Central Coast
Kris grew up in Seattle, WA. Coming from a musical family, he learned to play drums and guitar by the age of 6. His interests eventually led him to pursue a college level music education, completing University of Washington’s Sound Engineering program and the Music Major requirements at Santa Barbara Community College.
His experience as a music educator began in San Diego where he worked as Music Director for the Toussaint Academy of Arts from 2004-2008. Here he taught the fundamentals of songwriting and music production in a licensed group home for youth ages 14-18. He soon realized that by taking a global empathetic approach to music education, moments would often invite lessons in both ethnomusicology and emotional intelligence.
As a Notes for Notes Program Director, Kris hopes to facilitate a rite of passage for developing young musicians in the community by sharing his musical influences and experiences.
David RojasProgram Director | Santa Barbara East
David Rojas has been studying and playing music for 9 years. He began singing and playing guitar at 19 years old. Rojas was first self-taught on guitar before taking private lessons. Motivated by his progress in musicianship and music theory, he decided to undertake Santa Barbara City College’s (SBCC) music program. During his time at SBCC he studied the art of recording music, proper singing technique, advanced music theory and musicianship, and songwriting. He also participated in the college’s jazz combos for performance.
He’s now a founder, band leader, and member of two bands named Freakin On Speakers & Rent Party Blues Band. He’s also a conductor, songwriter, and music arranger for both bands.
Rojas is very passionate about music and enjoys sharing his experiences and knowledge through teaching, coaching, and mentoring. He is very happy to be part of an organization that helps serve our community in a positive, healthy, and musical way.
